The American Muslim Senior Society Position Statement

AMSS Is horrified by the recent video that shows the murder of George Floyd due to excessive police force. The death of other African Americans in similar circumstances is equally heartbreaking, unacceptable, and has to be addressed.

We recognize the inequities and the systematic racism that have inflicted the lives of our Black brothers and sisters and that have been magnified in recent months by COVID-19. It has disproportionately claimed black lives and caused economic havoc in black communities. We extend our deepest sympathy to the family and stand in solidarity with our black brothers and sisters during these challenging times. We completely reject indifference towards black people and renounce racism in any form. We as an organization are committed to listening, learning, and working collaboratively with others to ensure that all people are treated equally and that black lives are protected.
