Certified Nursing Assistants Scholarship Program and Employment Program
AMSS is grateful for our community's support of the AMSS Certified Nurses Assistants Scholarship and Employment Program. Launched in 2019, the program
is designed to provide the county’s younger multicultural members with limited income, with the opportunity for education, training, and employment in the healthcare field.
AMSS is pleased to welcome additional new partners the Primary Care Coalition PCC to our exciting partners Careplus Home Health and Advanced Home Support who will help us expand our culturally competent scholarship program.
What do Certified Nursing Assistants do?
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), provide direct care to patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and home care. As a vital part of a larger care team, CNAs help patients with a wide range of basic needs, including eating, bathing, grooming, providing the clients with social-emotional support, managing activities, and care schedules, light housekeeping of a client's living area, and administering medications (ONLY if certified by MBON).
AMSS is looking for candidates who:
Have a high school degree or equivalent
Are multilingual, can speak and read English (mandatory) as well as foreign languages including but not limited to Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, French/Cajun, Amharic, Somali, and other non-English languages
Have limited income
Are physically fit
Have to have a work permit or Green Card
Are residents of Montgomery County
Are interested in providing care to persons with disabilities
Have the time and commitment to get the needed training to become
Certified Nursing Assistants
Must pass background checks
Committed to providing at least 15 hours of supervised volunteer services to the community
