The American Muslim Senior Society (AMSS), is a 501(c)(3) health and Long-Term Care resource organization.
AMSS Mission
To empower the county's diverse 55+ and caregivers by giving them access to culturally sensitive tools and resources to improve their quality of life and give them the opportunity to live with dignity in their communities. AMSS focuses on isolated, under-served, and marginalized members.
Partnership In Action
AMSS gratefully acknowledges the ongoing financial support provided through Montgomery County’s Community Grants and assistance through the County’s Health and Human Services, Area Agency on Aging, and Aging and Disability Services.
We are equally grateful to our business partners and members of our communities who since inception, have generously co-sponsored many of AMSS programs, and activities.

Achievements:
Since 2018, AMSS has filled critical needs in Montgomery County communities of color:

Conducted 47 Health and Long-Term Care and Advanced Care Outreach Ambassadors Training.

Graduated 67 Health and Long-Term Care Outreach Ambassadors.

Established AMSS Certified Nursing Assistants Scholarship and Employment Program.

Provided Scholarships and Employments opportunities for 38 Certified Nurses Assistants.

Established the Halal Meals on Wheels Comprehensive Social Outreach and Support Program and through our Ambassadors.

Provided direct services to 200 isolated diverse older persons, caregivers, and persons with disabilities.

Conducted 16,800 visits.

Made 20,700 phone calls.

Distributed $35,000 in emergency funds during the pandemic.

Offered temporary shelters to 60, orphans and widowed persons.

Linked 80 older persons and persons with chronic illnesses to county services and resources.
-
Delivered more than 400,000 lbs, halal hot meals, dried goods, and fresh produce.

Spent 10,000 hours in crisis management and responding to urgent needs, since COVID-19.

Held a series of 38 countywide Education/Training outreach events on Health and Wellness; Interfaith related topics.

Engaged 2,700 older adults, caregivers, and interfaith leaders.

Distributed 11,000 flyers and educational materials.
